The Hot Afternoon

I love my job. I am surrounded by color. Wonderful people visit all day long. On a good day, we are shown amazing works that people have labored over. I have tried to share that on this site, to give you all a taste of the beautiful projects and thier proud owners.

It was hot today. Hot and dry. It felt like another city. This unusual weather always brings in some unusual visitors with it. Some people who are playing hookie from work. Or people who are doing other things, and are pulled out of their normal patterns because of the sunshine and thoughts of vacations....

One of our favorites came in to visit us today, triumphantly wearing her latest project. It was beautiful. She has a corporate job, so we don't usually see her until the evening. She was chatting with us, and planning her next project. With a twinkle in my eye, I asked her "to what do we owe this mid-day visit?" She looked up and without missing a beat, she said she was startging chemo. The weather, coupled with her always sunny disposition made this answer an impossible one. And yet, there it was. She moved right on, showing me the hats that were in her plans. And I was still reeling backwards from the news. I jogged to catch up with her, and looked at her thoughtful choices.

Hats off to her. Hats off to her bravery, and her ability to talk about it, and move along gracefully. You all know many in your own life for whom this is a reality as well. And hats off to them all.

That is the community of knitting. And the community that we saw today at Noe Knit.

Have you heard about our new Holiday Preparation Parties? On Sunday afternoons from 1:00 - 2:30 we invite you to come in & let us inspire you with quick and easy projects that make perfect holiday gifts. Each week there will be a different project and an instructor on hand to work through the pattern with you. Its always easier to get motivated with other people working on the same item & its a fun, social afternoon. Each Sunday only cost $7.00.

This Sunday, September 17th we'll be doing small cashmere projects. What could be a more glamorous gift than a pair of cashmere wrist warmers or a lacy scarf? There are a couple different patterns you can chose from & most require only 2 balls of yarn.

Sue's Labor Day show and tell

Sue came in for a visit on Labor day - showing off her latest "labors". It's a beautiful fitted sweater out of Point Five. She used a pattern from "La Luna" and Copper Beach is the colorway.
This sweater is just glorious. The color is a warm brown with splashes of blue, and then yellow and then a rich red. The trick (we agreed) to knitting with this big yarn, is to knit a fitted piece. It looks SO sharp!
Excellent Job!!

Blankets

Two magnificent projects have come into the store. Both were blankets. First, the absolutely fabulous throw kit by colinette, in the meadow colorway. Stunning.

Next, the sheep baby blanket from the vogue "baby blankets" book. The sheep are done in a nubby texture, and stand up off the surface of the blanket.



Both of these are gifts, sent off in the mail already to their lucky new owners! Thanks for sharing before they left the city!
